Join us for an artist reception for “Lisa Rock: Overgrowth” First Fri December 2, 5-8pm
Overgrowth examines the visual connection between spiny plants and manmade structures. Both act simultaneously as decoration and as barriers. The structural elements become armatures for the messy abundance of organic forms they struggle to contain. This intertwining abstracts the forms, creating a point of departure to explore color, shape, light and pattern through the medium of painting. Lisa Rock (b. 1985 in Marlborough, Massachusetts) is a painter living in Oakland.
The exhibition is on view to the public through December 10, 2022. Johansson Projects is open Thu-Sat 1-5.
