Lisa Rock
I am drawn to the relationship between natural and human-made forms. Snapshots of my everyday surroundings become source material for my work. Although I often work from photographs, my work doesn’t aim to be photorealistic. I work in a reductive manner that has a tendency to flatten space, merging the many layers of an image into a single plane. The images become studies of formal issues such as color, pattern, and composition.
