Julien Laporte
Julien Laporte (b. 1995, Perpignan, France) the son of winegrowers spent his childhood facing the Mediterranean. Julien has journeyed far in pursuit of artistic excellence; following the completion of his studies, he ventured to Paris in 2013 where he attended prep school at the esteemed Sevres workshop. A testament to his talent, Julien earned a coveted spot at the Beaux-Arts in Paris under the mentorship of renowned artist Jean-Michel Alberola. During his three-year tenure at the institution, Julien Laporte immersed himself in the world of drawing, eventually earning his DNAP (Diplome Nationale des Arts Plastiques). Yet, it was his decision to explore painting shortly before graduation that marked a profound shift in his artistic journey, igniting a lifelong passion for the medium.
In a quest to reconnect with his roots and refine his skills, Julien Laporte embarked on a transformative six-month Erasmus program in Valencia, delving deep into the realm of acrylic painting. Upon returning to Paris, Julien pursued his DNSAP (Diplome Nationale Superieur des Arts Plastiques), culminating in his graduation from the Beaux-Arts in Paris in 2019. However, his artistic endeavors were far from over. That same summer, he returned to Perpignan, where he held his first solo exhibition at the FILAF gallery in 2020, with the invaluable support of Sébastien Planas.
Today, Julien Laporte finds inspiration in the vibrant hues of fauvism and the luminous landscapes of the south of France. Painting to the rhythm of carefully curated music, he seamlessly integrates childhood memories and Catalonian adventures into his artwork. Travel remains an integral part of his creative process, enriching his repertoire with a tapestry of diverse imagery.
